Product Description

Basic Knowledge of Propellers

The propeller, as the power output terminal of multi rotor unmanned aerial vehicles, is mainly responsible for converting the rotational force generated by the motor into propulsion force, thereby driving the drone up, forward or performing various complex flight actions. According to the number of blades, propellers can be divided into single blade, double blade, triple blade, and even more blade designs. The most commonly used multi rotor unmanned aerial vehicles are two or four bladed propellers, which balance efficiency, noise, and manufacturing costs.

Material and Construction

Modern multi rotor drone propellers are typically made of lightweight and tough materials, such as carbon fiber, engineering plastics (such as ABS, polycarbonate), or nylon, to ensure they are both lightweight and durable during high-speed rotation. The structure of a propeller is divided into two parts: a hub (center part) and a blade, where the shape and inclination design of the blade directly affect the lift efficiency and stability of the propeller.

Operational Principle

The lift generation of a propeller follows the principles of aerodynamics, that is, when the propeller rotates, the blades cut through the air and generate upward lift through the pressure difference on the blade surface. The leading edge of the blade is thinner and the trailing edge is thicker, forming a certain degree of curvature, which accelerates the speed of air passing through the blade and reduces pressure. According to Bernoulli's principle, an upward force is generated. In addition, the rotation direction of the propeller is also crucial. Multi rotor drones typically use the opposite rotation direction of the propeller on the diagonal to counteract the torque effect of the aircraft and maintain flight stability.

Selection and Calibration of Propellers

Choosing the appropriate propeller is crucial for improving the performance of unmanned aerial vehicles. Large diameter, low pitch (i.e. the degree of blade bending) propellers are suitable for applications that require high lift and low speed, such as heavy loads or low-noise flight; On the contrary, small diameter and high pitch propellers are suitable for high-speed flight. In addition, proper balance and pitch adjustment can reduce vibration, improve flight efficiency and battery endurance.

The performance of propellers directly affects the flight speed, stability, endurance, and noise level of unmanned aerial vehicles. Optimized propeller configuration can make unmanned aerial vehicles more energy-efficient, achieving longer flight time or faster response speed. Meanwhile, a reasonable selection of propellers can also enhance the adaptability of drones in complex environments, such as maintaining stable hovering and flight under high wind conditions.
